- Un-install SDRTransfer before installing the new version
- the old version of sdrtransfer will not be able to open files edited with the new version
- there have been a lot of changes in the background, there is a chance that there will be issues and a new version will be released soon, please let me know if you have any issues.
- due to the time I have spent on the update there will be a fee to upgrade, this fee is $300 + GST for a single user licence and $500 + GST for a multi user licence. You will be prompted for a new registration code, you will need to email me to receive this code.
Degarble will be upgraded over the new few months - this will continue to be freeware.

If your are new to e-surveys you may wonder why there is a need for products like SDRTransfer, especially as Landonline has a data capture tool that allows you to type in all the necessary data manually. The answer is simple, time. It makes no sense to enter all you information in SDRMap to do your calcs and then type it all into Landonline again. Using the data capture tools in Landonline it takes around half a day to enter all the information for even a small survey, apart from being boring you are almost guaranteed to type some data in wrong. SDRTransfer allows you to do most of the work in SDRMap then simply create a file which Landonline uses to load all the information. The half day task of manually entering the data is reduced to a 10-20 minute job.
Actually SDRTransfer goes one step further. Before starting your job in SDRMap do a data extraction of the survey site in Landonline. Use SDRTransfer to create a file which SDRMap can read, this will load into SDRMap most of the data extracted from Landonline. By loading the underlying data into SDRMap it is later possible for SDRTransfer to automatically link marks and observations in Landonline (this is normally done manually in the data capture tools within Landonline).
With practice the total time taken from when you are finished in SDRMap to completion in Landonline is around one hour for a simple job, larger jobs simply extend the time taken in the plan generation stage. This is a huge time saving from conventional plan draughting.
The easiest way to view the steps involved in an e-survey, and how SDRTransfer works is to check out the demos listed on the right panel of this page. |
