Read these Instructions |
This software will work properly as long as use it in the way it has been designed. Please take special note of the steps required in SDRMap. Print out the help notes (in landscape) and follow them for the first few times, please contact me via email if you are having problems, I would much rather you call me than assume the software is not operating correctly. |
Step 1, |
Just double click the file you downloaded to install SDRTransfer CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD SDRTransfer Setup files>>>> Note that updates are available every 6 months or so - these updates are emailed to registered users free of charge when they become available.

Step 2
|
A Quickmap licence is required for the graphics to in SDRTRansfer to work. Please make sure you have a recently updated version of quickmap ie after July 2004 Why?? the graphics of SDRTransfer uses the quickmap engine to display the data and enable you to select data from the map. For me to write code to do this would be a major undertaking and would ultimately increase the cost of SDRTransfer. Note: an evaluation version of Quickmap is available email me for details There are several licence options as follows

Step 3 |
Once you have installed SDRTransfer you need to set it up to make sure data from Landonline is displayed how you want it in SDRMap. Run SDRTransfer then select TOOLS > OPTIONS from the menu. (note: the separate SDRTransfer_setup program is used in the rare case you need to replace the server database, this could happen if I need to add more fields or table to the database). The top half of the settings screen is devoted to the way the data from Landonline is displayed in SDRMap, the bottom half is the default file locations. Line and Symbol Settings these settings are need to tell SDRTransfer where these values are in your system, eg a single circle in my copy of SDRMap is the 5th item in my symbols list. A dashed line is the second line in the list of line types on my system. Colours Each Datum 2000 order can have a separate colour, ticking the annotate box will mean these marks will be annotated in SDRMap. Files This is the default directories that the system uses, make sure the directory exists and is valid. Note that the example below if from a computer with 2 drives, hence the D drive .

| Sample and important notes to begin with | Please try SDRTransfer with the sample data first, it will give you a good idea of how the system works. It is handy to have a bit of data to play around with and see how things should. The sample files contain a SDR job, XML file extracted from LINZ for the area and an output file from SDR ready to be loaded into SDRTransfer. There are 2 ways to use SDRTransfer, the only difference involves importing data from LOL into SDR. Method 1 (Basic) - In this mode you do NOT bring data from LOL into SDR. Use this if you want to keep things simple or if you enter traverse data into SDR via the traverse sheet (not the data entry mode). In the basic mode you don't create linked XML files and lose a few other options, however Linking from within LOL is very easy as is the entry of the other data. I would recommend starting this way to keep things as simple as possible. You will be able to skip steps 1 and 2 of the help files. Run right through the steps with the sample data;
Method 2 (advanced) - This mode involves importing data from LOL BEFORE you process your survey. You MUST use the data entry mode in LOL to use this option. You will be able to import the underlying data in to SDR and create linked XML to be loaded back into LOL. Run right through the steps with the sample data;
