Step 1 - Extract Data from Landonline

There is two ways to operate SDRTransfer, read below to see which method suits you.

1, Using imported data from Landonline

By loading Landonline data into SDRMap SDRTransfer can automatically link the marks in your survey to those in Landonline as well as automatically populating other mark and observation details that Landonline requires.

Method 1 suits people who use the data entry module in SDR, if you enter data straight into the traverse spreadsheet then use method 2

You cannot use Method 1 if you enter data into SDR using the traverse spread sheet.

Part 1 below shows you how to extract data from Landonline and pass it through SDRTransfer to SDRMap.

2, Don't use imported data from Landonline

You can take data from any SDR job and pass it through SDRTransfer to Landonline. If you use this method marks will need to be manually linked and you will have more data to enter to populate the required Landonline values.

You can skip the rest of this page and the first part of step 2.

PART 1A

Have a look in Landonline or Quickmap to see if there are any 6th order D2000 marks near your survey. You will need to extract an area that covers the parcel you are subdividing as well as these marks.

In the graphics window of Landonline select the area you want to extract (using the area selection tool) then choose "Tools>Extract Survey Data"

  • Under "Extract Options" select
    • All - to extract all the data
    • select the correct coordinate system ie Mount Eden 1949

Save the XML file with a name that you will recognize, eg "123 smith from LoL.xml" you don't want to get mixed up between the file you extract from Landonline and the one you will produce from SDRTransfer that will get loaded back into Landonline.

PART 2

The data must now be made into a file that can be read by SDRMap.

open SDRTransfer and make a new project from the file menu

click Import > Import XML file from LINZ to read in the XML file that you extracted above, you will then get the screen below.

SDRMap files are created automatically when the file has been imported

Note the message saying the SDR file has been written, this is the file that is imported into SDRMap. The log file contains any description information contained in the XML file that cannot be passed on to SDRMap.
